Did Presidential Jet Conveying Mrs Goodluck Prevent Faulty Dana Plane From Landing Before Crash?

I just received this -

"Is there any way of getting confirmation about news I'm just getting that the Dana plane was distressed for a while but could not make an emergency landing because the airspace was closed for 2 hours for  the Presidential Jet carrying Dame Patience Goodluck Jonathan.

Private jet owners who had to hover in the air same time leaked this. This was apparently the reason local news didn't report the crash for so long till CNN and foreign news stations started reporting it.

Local news was 'blacked out' trying to kill the story of the airspace being closed while a distressed plane couldn't land.

It would be shocking if so. Though there was engine failure there was still time for the plane to have landed apparently.

You do know anyway that the airspace is closed for up to 2hours each time the Presidential Jet needs to go into the air? 2 hours for a 15minute take off or landing!

And this jet is used by President, VP, President's wife and if I recall David Mark.

It's almost a daily occurrence I've been told by airline staff when it caught me out on a trip

The truth remains that the President's wife was actually in Lagos to attend the christening of their personal assistant's child at the Oriental hotel.. Lekki. Anyone living on the Lekki axis saw first hand the horrendous traffic caused by the president's wife's visit..and confirmed reports from airport staff who volunteered information, collaborated this fact, that the Lagos airport was actually shut for 2 hours, about the same time the ill fated Dana Plane crashed. This also strongly explains the reason why Aero contractor airplane could not depart Abuja for Lagos at 3:40pm because of the closure of the Lagos airport. This is criminal and one can only imagine the deep sorrow ad-in-finitum (without limit) that the families of these unfortunate Nigerians and other nationals are currently plagued into. Grief that is so thick in the air, that one can cut through with a knife...rooted soul searching. Yes we have to and yes we can; beginning from our immediate homes and While we pray for the repose of the souls of the departed, we need as a nation to thoroughly do some deep ommunities.. with time this will snowball into our National consciousness. For how long are we going to sacrifice the lives of our dear brothers and sisters and by extension mortgage the future of their/our children, just for the comfort of our leaders? For a 15 minutes ritual of plane take-off, an airport was shut for 2 hours because our "DEAR FIRST LADY" was scheduled to return to Abuja.. OH merciful God, help Nigeria in Distress!''

NIgerians need to know what happened?who closed the airstrip for two hours on sunday june 3,2012????

  1. If this is true, then its too bad! My heart bleeds!! This issue needs to be taken up and not left to die off!!

In a country where we have only one runway for landing and taking off why will you close the runway for 2hrs? 2hrs? Even if she's having her bath after landing? God have mercy!

  2. Please be absolutely sure before u cause further chaos in the already tense polity. I think Dana airlines management will not keep quiet about this and take all the blame if it were true. Please verify your sources.

  4. There's no iota of truth in this statement. I'm an aviator and knows better. The late Capt Wax who flew the ill fated aircraft already declared " mayday ". Its an emergency callout prioritising that distressed aircraft for immediate landing and emergency services.
At d declaration of " mayday ", all other in / outbound aircrafts are put on hold for the distressed one irrespective of which vip.
Let's be objective and do away with sensationalism

  10. As at 11.30am on sunday the 1st lady was already at Osapa, Lekki.

this could not have contributed to the crash that occured at 3.10pm. do not allow dana airlines spread false propaganda

  14. we all need to be patient and wait for the out come of the investigation. If lagos traffic can stand still while the president comes and leaves the airport then it could be true. lets wait and see.

  26. Nigerians should learn to live with their decisions...Jonathan was voted in by Nigerians...We need to stop complaining..2015 will soon be here again I wont be surprised if we vote based on sentiments again..Nigeria is a complete failure not only because of the leaders but the people have their share of the blame...May the souls of the departed rest in peace

  27. I don't know how to fly a plane but if I was d pilot and I cld find my way to d airport/tarmac/run way despite d closure of airstrip ; I wld have proceeded to land the plan at the airport. The lives of d 153 passengers on board is more important than d Dame thing and d pilot's job and d airline's licensce.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Ha....! What is Nigeria turning into?? Dear God, please save your children!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Then if this is true, God is waiting for them on the other side. Useless woman with her foolish husband we have for president, am sure they'll deny it.

  30. This is crap! Get ur facts right and Spread authentic stories! If you understand the process for emergency landing, you will understand that the story you are spreading is crap and untrue! Why do we always have to link everything to the government?? We fail exams in school, its the government, we bedwet, its the government etc!!!! If CNN caught the news, they will not hessitate to let the world know that the airport was closed for two hours.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Is this really true? This hurts real bad and Nigerians deserve to know the truth! They can keep stealing money all they want but this time, its life we are talking about!and those mourning deserve the truth. Enough is
    now enough!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  32. This is lame report please stop spreading such stories we are not bunch of illitrates pls,no where in world or aviation industry such thing happen.this plane was in a mess nd faulty blame it on Dana not the presidency or presidents wife.you bloody idiot.

    ReplyDelete
  33. If u are d person carrying over 150 passengers and d plane is malfunctioning and will forces you to make an emergency landing, would you listen to the tower telling you dat the airspace is closed for whatever reason or just go ahead and do the needful. Please let us concentrate on more serious issues and leave Dame alone.

    ReplyDelete
  34. My God! The way Nigerians manufacture stories is just really amazing! Please you guys should give these people some break I beg, ah ah!. I am certain that the Dana plane crash was not due to Mrs. Jonathan's trip, if at all she even flew at that time, why is it now that you are busy talking about the airspace being closed for 2 hours prior to the Presidential Jet taking off?, is this not something that has been going on from time immemorial (according to Zebrudaya), why wait to talk about it now?, if you believe that there is something wrong that is being done, speak about it immediately and not wait till some disaster occurs, you cannot say that you did not know about this airport closure situation all your life, but now you want to blame this unfortunate incident that has affected a number of Nigerians on Mrs. Jonathan, shame on you.

  35. i just pray this is not true Stella. because the snowballing hate in my soul for the leadership of Nigeria is enought o consume the whole of Aso Rock in a second. My Pastor and His wife died in that crash leaving three young children, the oldest barely ten years old. You mean Patience will render so many young ladies widow just for the parasphenalia of office. People are grieving here in U.S. A toung widow is locked up in her room in Canada simply because her husband had to work in Nigeria. She is never gonna see him again. Gosh. If true, those who enacted that law or whatever it is will always weep over everything they have.

    ReplyDelete
  36. If that was what truly happened, then that is really bad. But i remembered sometime this year when i was in calabar, it was co incidentally the week GEJ came to Calabar for the PDP gubernatorial rally, and the airport was not closed bcos i was at the airport to pick up some stuffs. whilst i was there, business went on normally. So why will it happen when the first lady came to Lagos. God help us all.

    ReplyDelete
  37. If this story is true, then the only answer is to raze Aso Rock and its inhabitants to the ground. They must burn.

    ReplyDelete
  38. This had better not be true. But my heart fears that this could be true because most of us have experienced untold hardship on days Her Excellency visits Lagos. Most roads leading to her place of visit are usually blocked. Anmal farm.

Since we all know Abuja to Lagos is 50mins journey... If Aero is aware of the 2hrs shutdown n they delayed their flight till 4:30pm den why was Dana not informed?? We need to stop spreading rumours n focus on the real problem.

  61. in the colonial era, we lived the slave master life. now we av our freedom yet the mentality of the colonial era never left us. 4 example; the colonial master TCM lived in government residential area, our so called democrats too live in aso rock {where only a few selected can go to}. TCM wanted to do what they liked without being questioned, our democrats too walked in their foot steps {squandering our funds n syphoning them out of the country}. if trully we are independent n free, then let us change our mindset, attitude, disposition and stand concerning national issues such as security, electricity, good roads, water, free n good air, health care delivery etc {an unending list of needs}. i dont blame Dame i blame our policy makers who make d rules we go n live by. policies like giving presidents who served our country 4 just 4years a life long pension n "PAYING OFF" those that served 4 35years at once. Think about it well n digest these words of mine. Its not about Dame at all. place ur grieviances at the right quaters.n I empathise with families who av lost their loved ones. May God give them the fortitude 2 bear their loss. i submit my case.

  68. Looking for cheap publicity to blame GEJ. This is highlly incompetent, incourageous, sickening, and shows deep lack of compassion. Making political fortunes out of the death of great ones. The writer should provide a balanced report of the underlying issues. This is the sheer backwardness in character that has kept the country the way it is. Reform.

    ReplyDelete
  69. This your false story will only bring more hurt to people. I have been @ the airport same time as when the president is taking or and landing and there has never been closure for that reason. The only thing is that they are given landing and taking off priorities same as the Dana airline was given when it declared SOS. Remember the plane was not hovering and was goin direct to the airport, even the timeline from take off to landing shows it was in the air less than 55 minutes. So please get a life.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Another question is, who is trying 2 sabotage this poor company that has not only lost its dear customers but also a huge investment. Who hurriedly withdrew a license given at d expense of probably a long time loan servicing before an undergoing investigation could be concluded?

    ReplyDelete
  71. I appreciate the tone of Stella's info. Like she said, we need to confirm what really happened before we start spilling out hate for the president & his wife. Let's keep an open heart cos it's possible some people might be trying to politicize this unfortunate incidence. God bless Nigeria.

    ReplyDelete
  72. This is just bullshit. Go nd find urself somtin beta 2 do

  73. Can this be true?

    ReplyDelete
  74. I can authoritatively tell u dat dis is a fat lie. Ds piece is a propangada, d airspace can & hs neva bn close for 1hrs talkles 2hrs

    ReplyDelete
  75. If you ask my opinion, I will say you should have confirmed this story before adding it to the rumour mill and whipping up sentiments. Everyone wants to blame someone for misfortune, but when the stakes are this high, over 150 dead and actions of leadership possibly responsible, it amounts to spitting on the graves of the departed if we peddle rumours without CONCRETE proof.

    ReplyDelete
  76. This is bullshit. Go and get urself sometin 2 do. U ass

    ReplyDelete
  77. May God punish her and her husband. May they die the way those innocent ppl died.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Hmmm, dis is serious but don't totally agree,u say d airspace/airport was closed for 2hrs for d presidents wife, how com d flight took off from abj den, does it take 2hrs to get to lag from abj,d main issue is dat d plane shldnt have moved in d first place.if they were expectn a plane to land and d presidential jet was about leavn are dey so stupid to close d airspace when dey are expectn a flight from abj, does closing d airport stop distress calls from getn to d contro tower,We shld stop heating d polity and allow relatives heal while our aviation sector is overhauled.dats my humble submission

    ReplyDelete
  79. And GEJ was there shedding crocodile tears when he is aware of d truth.maay d blood of all dat died hunt him and his illiterate wife to thje grave. For how long are we going to take all dis bullshit from these heartless people

    ReplyDelete
  80. Hmmmm God save us from our selfish leaders!!

    ReplyDelete
  81. Hmmmm. This is beyond belief and Professionally criminal for air traffic controlers to ignore a distress call because of one individual at the expense of 153 people. Unbelieveable!!!

    ReplyDelete
  82. It beats my immagination that people make jokes and politicise sensitive issues like this... this is no joke for CHRIST's sake. How there u use situation like this to play on people's intelligence. Where on earth have you heard that airport closure supercede emergencies? Moreso, u dont close the airport for two hours plus due VIP. Haba.... please lets be careful how we peddle rumours, it could be you tomorrow. It's best to use our time to think of how we can make this country a better place and try the best we can to reach out to the helpless

    ReplyDelete
  83. Restricted airspace or not. The plane wsn't in a good condition. It should have never taken off in the 1st place. Although it might hve landed bfre d faultiness gave in. But God knows best. It is well ...

    ReplyDelete
  84. If really that this info is true, that means the end of the investigation of the cause of the crash will be compromise. Because it will not sound right to know that the crash could have been averted if the airstrip was free and normal. That the death of promising individuals and families was cause because the first lady is incharge of the air port space at that time. Hmmmmmm,is clear now like 60% that the real reason for the crash may be concealed. God help us all

    ReplyDelete
  88. God have mercy on our nation.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Please, do not believe anything/everything you read. Eye witnessess did not say anything like the plane was circlinr around the area before it fell, that simply means that they were not asked to hold before landing. The fact that they were 11 miles out of the airport meant they were about to land. This has nothing to do with the president's wife. The management of dana air should be held responsible for letting an aircraft that was unfit to fly take off. It is also standard practice anywhere in the world, that athe airspac is shut when NAF001 or airforce1 is going to be in the air.

The management of Dana air should be held responsible for this nonsense and no one else, they are to blame entirely

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  93. U are MAD. If the airspace is closed for two hrs and aero was not allowed to take off then why was dana allowed to take off. Pls info that got to us said the pilot called 11 mins before that plane crashed to say it had a fault. Dont forget before Dana crashed arik landed from abj. You guys should tackle the problem and leave patience out of this.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Prove all things, and hold fast to that which is good.

    ReplyDelete
  95. It is obvious dat dis information wud not be revealed to the public. Funny too dat our local stations were busy showing beauty pageants and all. Very unfortunate dat we r in a corrupt country dat wud not look into dis information dat has been release. Why wud the airspace be closed for 2hrs cos one first lady wants to land. It's really saddening.

    ReplyDelete
  96. This story is definately not true! These are trying times for us, please stop forming such stories and allow victims families to grief, pls. Kindly find out what time the ill-fated plane took off from Abuja, and the time it crashed. Also, if MMA was shut down for the presidential Jet, the ill-fated aircraft will not be allowed to take off from Abuja. Put the dots together...

    ReplyDelete
  97. Now this is truly sad... And if this is anything to go by, m sorry to say the families of the bereaved will not get closure or justice!!!! Shame

  105. Flew yesterday and all I could think of what went wrong...the distance btw d plane and d closeness to buildings whilst landing means dat d dana plane was already falling and delay has nothing to do with it...please you peeps should stop looking for how to link the whole ish to the president.... Dana aircraft was faulty and shouldn't av been on airstrip with passengers....even if the goverment should be blamed why in the world do we have avaition ministry?????? The voice recordings that came out blaming the management why didn't they send those complaints to avaition ministry why wait till the plane crashes???? Those re the questions we should be asking not saying cos the airport was locked down so emergency landing was impossible..... Its just like saying there is fire and ‎there re buckets of water around you but you couldn't utilize it cos the fire service said d can't make it.... Please!!!

this is arrant non sense. In as much as i stil pay my codenlence to the families that lost their love ones, i stil cant buy in to the above revelation, this is becus the clossure of the airport (if it is true that it was close or they use to close it during vip's visit) did nt cus the crash. If the plane is good then why wouldnt it be able to spend two hours that other plane use to spend any time such incident comes into play i.e the visit of the vips. Pls let the fed govt do their work and fine the cus of the crash beside i tink there is a communication link betwn the ploit and the staffs, if their is any interation betw them the blackbox will review that.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Pls we should not shift blame now what is wrong is wrong, the plane was fault and was not suppose to move so this theory is totally wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  108. It is only in nigeria that we witness all this madness&craziness of the same sick people we elected into office to serve us.why shld an airspace be closed for 2 hrs for someone's comfort at the detriment of other people.GOD will judge all of them on earth before rapture.

There are international protocol regarding emergencies, besides, since there is no physical barriers involved in the air space closure, the worst that can be done is to arrest flight crew but I don't think any right thinking individual would not make every reasonable attempt to safely land the plane, closure or no closure

Assuming these facts were true, why the hell did Dana continue on their flight schedule!! ? Are they not suppose to delay d flight take off time jst as their other counterparts did !! ?? It's quite an understandable security measure that the airport be shut down before/within the time GEJ,VP and DM are scheduled to touch down, obviously due to the current insecurity in our country.

He refused because he managed to land in Abuja.Instead of grounding the plane for repairs in Abuja airport. They ask an indigenous pilot to fly it back to lagos because the indian pilot told them point blank he can commit suicide. Also al jazeera new reported that this plan in paticular is kown for its problematic nature for over 20yrs now still Dana bought and 3weeks prior to the crash it has been given serious problems.

We have the time schedule of the said flight and what time it was supposed to have landed in Lagos. The fight should be on the selfish operators of the airline that insisted dat a faulty plane flies. 188. Arrant rubbish! What airspace/law will prevent a distressed airline from landing? If Ʊ were d pilot, wouldn't Ʊ rather take ur chances at landing than crashing with all ur passenger?
Dana was not hovering before it developed the fault that crashed it.
Untill Nigerians stop the laxity at their jobs, then we will not see CHANGE. Who A̶̲̥̅rε̲̣̣̣̥ d people responsible for ensuring flights A̶̲̥̅rε̲̣̣̣̥ in G☺☺d shape? What was their report on this airline before d incident? They should be made to answer to their responsibilities.
S̴̩☺̴̩̩̥ sad that these people just died for commercial gains.

    ReplyDelete
  189. If this can be confirmed to be true, then Nigerians will be stupid to let this pass just like that. This cannot and will never happen anywhere in the whole wild world. How can the legislature who are serviced by the taxpayer's money grant a public official such prerogative?. Not even a distress situation which the plane was in could move the authority at the airport just because of an illiterate called Patience who has no value for human life. Let me remind her that the wife of the former prime minister of Britain, Mrs. Blair was fined at a public train station because she boarded the train without a valid ticket. She could not get an attendant to sell a ticket to her and as she waited for the attendant, the train tried to take off and she joined only to be questioned along the way when asked to show her ticket. Mrs. Jonathan thank you for causing the death of people who you cannot measure up to save for the fact that your husband rigged an election.

From my understanding, you are just some loner that has been over flooded with conspiracy theories and feels that with a pen and an ipad she could release all unnecessary and irrelevant information into the media to cloud the minds of ignorant Nigerians who know nothing about the airline industry just so you can score some points and get some media recognition. One word explains this link - Garbage!

  194. let's assume it's true.. Dt definitely isn't d cause of the crash... Dis protocol has been in existence even b4 d emergence of GEJ and d airlines are aware of that. So Let's put d blame where it ought to be. Why don't we blame Dana mgt for flying a broken plane, why don't we blame d selfish staffs of Dana who should av voiced out to d public/passengers not to fly with d plane cos it's a death trap... Why don't we blame d pilots who agreed to fly d plane despite knowing it's not in good condition... Let's stop blaming Mr and Mrs president for all our misfortunes... As much as I agree dt d leadership of dis nation is bad, I want us to also realise d followership is even worse...

  196. POLITICIZING THE DANA CRASH CALAMITY

Our attention has been drawn to the orchestrated plan to politicize the Sunday Dana Air crash in Lagos in which many people lost their lives, through rumours about the possible cause of the accident citing VIP movement involving the wife of the President.

We consider it callous, inhuman and devilish for anyone to have thought of wrapping such national calamity in political garb by insinuating that the plane crashed because the airspace was closed for the First Lady’s movement in Lagos.

For the avoidance of doubt, the First Lady arrived Lagos at about 2pm on Saturday, 2nd June, 2012 for a private engagement and was billed to leave for Abuja on Monday, 4th June, 2012.

In compliance with her itinerary, the First Lady arrived Lagos on Saturday. She was at a public event on Sunday when the accident occurred and promptly abandoned the ceremony as a mark of respect for the victims and retired to the State House, Marina. She left Lagos at exactly 13.15hrs on Monday, 4th June, 2012, according to schedule.

It is therefore surprising that some mischievous persons will see this moment of National mourning as an opportunity to blackmail and impugn the First Lady’s integrity.

This is the time for all Nigerians to be sober and pray for the repose of the souls of the victims and not a time to subordinate the interests of our nation to narrow self-serving interests.

Let us all put the interest of the Nation first in whatever we do.

Mrs. Jonathan had no intention to travel on Sunday and never did. Like all Nigerians, she has been mourning the dead.

    Signed

    Ayo Osinlu
    Special Assistant to the President
    Office of the First Lady
    5th June, 2012
